Thai Beef Salad with Fresh Mint

Sliced steak, cucumber, shallot, lime, chile, and a generous handful of fresh mint.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound sirloin or flank steak
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 limes, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 red chile, sliced
  • 1 cucumber, sliced
  • 1 shallot, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 cup cilantro leaves

Method

  1. Season and sear steak until medium-rare or preferred doneness.
  2. Whisk fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, and chile into a sharp dressing.
  3. Rest steak, then slice thinly across the grain.
  4. Toss cucumber, shallot, mint, cilantro, beef, and dressing together.
  5. Serve while the beef is still slightly warm.

Fresh Mint Tip

Mint should be added at the final toss so the lime dressing does not darken the leaves.
