Greek Meatballs with Mint Tzatziki

Tender meatballs with oregano and garlic, served with cucumber yogurt brightened by mint.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef or lamb
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 garlic cloves, grated
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh mint
  • Lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper

Method

  1. Mix meat with breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  2. Shape into meatballs and bake or pan-sear until cooked through.
  3. Stir yogurt with cucumber, mint, lemon juice, olive oil, and salt.
  4. Rest meatballs for a few minutes.
  5. Serve with mint tzatziki, salad, and warm pita.

Fresh Mint Tip

Squeeze the cucumber well so the mint tzatziki stays thick enough to spoon.
